A special message from David Gillanders, Executive Director
I am overjoyed and honored to share with you that Pathways of Hope is the recipient of a $2.5 million investment from the Jeff Bezos Day One Family Fund!
Yes, you read that correctly – Pathways is receiving $2.5 million to help end family homelessness in North OC. We are one of just 32 agencies across the country who are being recognized for our critical work in the area of homeless services.
Thanks to this unprecedented investment, Pathways is poised to make a greater impact than ever before in North Orange County.
We are proud to be recognized at a national level and we are grateful: grateful to the Day One Family Foundation and grateful to YOU, our supporters. You make it possible for us to touch the lives of the thousands of struggling people who seek help and hope at our doors each year.
YOU made it possible for our agency to receive this incredible investment, and words cannot express my gratitude for your support.
Now, undoubtedly, you’re asking, “David, what will Pathways do with this money?”
The majority of this investment will be used to launch a capital campaign engineered to build resources for a project that truly ends homelessness for families who are living on the streets, in parks and in cars.
And how do you end homelessness? With housing.
Pathways knows that we must have a relentless focus on finding housing opportunities for the thousands of vulnerable people who come to our shelters and our food and resource center each year.
Sometimes, we have to build that housing ourselves.
We need to continue to have the frank conversation with our cities and our county: there is simply not enough housing for our most vulnerable residents. We need to do more. And this investment will help catalyze that.
Now, more than ever before, we need you.
You see, this funding has a specific purpose, one that will come to fruition in a steady manner, one that will eventually reap massive rewards.
But in the meantime, Pathways will continue to provide our current housing, food, and resource programs. And we need your help to keep these programs operational so we can continue to provide the highest quality of service to as many vulnerable people as possible throughout North OC.
We need your continued trust and investment in Pathways of Hope.
This agency-changing gift demonstrates just how much Pathways has grown since that first group of concerned citizens came together in 1975 to support their struggling neighbors.
But throughout our agency’s history there is one fundamental belief that has driven our success: We are always stronger when we work together, and together we can make a life-changing difference in the lives of our neighbors in need.
Again, I thank you for your support, and for making this amazing opportunity possible. Stay tuned for an update in early 2020!
With enormous gratitude,
