Brenda, her husband, and their five children became homeless when her husband lost his job. The family spent six months living in motels, struggling to get by and praying for a miracle. Her husband was eventually able to find another job, but the family had exhausted their financial resources and were unable to afford to pay the security deposit and holding fees necessary to move into a new apartment.

Brenda entered our Rapid Re-Housing Program in August. By early September, her family was able to move into a new apartment, thanks to funding from Orange County United Way that provided assistance with her security deposit and first few months’ rent.

Brenda was thrilled to host Thanksgiving for her family and her husband’s family in her new apartment. She is grateful for the support of OC United Way and for the individual donors whose contributions make stories like hers possible.  “There are families out there that are innocent and need help,” she said, “You give us hope.”
